Fortune Peak Huts Backcountry Skiing
We're SO excited to partner with Fortune Peak Huts to provide four day hut trips out of two Weatherports and a barrel sauna located in the Upper Teanaway. The huts are set up to provide a comfortable escape from the winter elements, with a wood stove cranking out the heat and drying out your gear for tomorrow's adventures. Every kitchen is fully stocked with a propane stove, pots, pans, plates, bowls, utensils, and fuel among other helpful items. The bunk beds are set up with insulated pads awaiting your nice warm sleeping bag. Immediately above camp are the Esmeralda Peaks, Koppen Mountain, Teanaway Mountain, and Iron Peak. These mountains offer a wide range of terrain, from protected storm skiing in the trees to 2,000' couloirs. Perched just east of the cascade crest at the confluence of cold eastern air and moisture-laden storms rolling in off the pacific, this part of the cascades is colder and sunnier than the mountains to the west. This results in snow more worthy of the word "powder" and more bluebird days to enjoy the alpine.
Scheduled: $1,675

Here’s What To Expect

Itinerary

Day 1: After meeting for a gear check, we'll caravan to where NF-9737 north of Cle Elum is closed for the winter, and park at the Sno-Park to unload the snowmobiles and do our final pack 8 miles from the huts. We'll utilize the snowmobiles to help shuttle gear, food, and humans the first four miles and gear portering the rest of the way to camp. With light day packs, folks will cover the final 4 miles and 700' of climbing to camp under their own power. After settling in, we'll get out for some afternoon laps to explore the area before eating dinner and relaxing in the barrel sauna.

Day 2: After a quick morning meeting and a hearty breakfast, we will leave to explore the plethora of terrain available and ride where the snow is best. We will return to the huts before sundown to dry out, relax, play games, and eat dinner in preparation of more riding to come!

Day 3: With two days of riding under our belts in the area, we'll push out further into terrain to ride whatever elevation and aspect harbors the best snow, views, and/or objectives worthy of our physical output. After a full day of skiing/riding, we'll return to the huts before sundown to repeat our care routine of drying out, relaxing, sitting in the sauna, and eating yummy food.

Day 4: After a good breakfast, we will pack up our things from camp in the early morning hours and stash our items near/on the snowmobiles. This will give us time to get our for a run or two in the morning before making our way back down to the cars where we'll high five and part ways.

Trip Reviews
“I have skied with all of the guides at CMA and have had great experiences. They are passionate about their craft, and it shows in the experiences they provide. They know where to find the best skiing and have extensive knowledge of the local terrain.”

They do the essentials really well: they’re professional, knowledgeable and competent, great teachers, and always keep an eye on safety as every guide service must. What sets them apart for me is that they do all that AND make it FUN. Some of the best times I’ve ever had in the mountains are with this crew. I highly recommend them!”

I hired this guide crew for technical education and then returned for their recreational guiding services. I’ll continue to lean on Cascade Mountain Ascents to bring me further into the backcountry and advance my technical skills in the mountains.”

Zack and Cascade Mountain Ascents is the best choice for your adventure no matter your skill level. From beginner to seasoned pro, Zack has you covered. His knowledge and skills of all-terrain and mountain situations had us feeling safe and confident all the way.”
