Not all AIARE 2 Avalanche Courses are created equal… This four-day, hut-based AIARE 2 offers a fully immersive experience where students hone their skills in decision making, terrain management, and tour planning in a venue that offers unparalleled access to some of the best terrain Washington has to offer.
We’re SO excited to partner with Fortune Peak Huts to provide four day hut trips out of two Weatherports and a barrel sauna located in the Upper Teanaway. The huts are set up to provide a comfortable escape from the winter elements, with a wood stove cranking out the heat and drying out your gear for tomorrow’s adventures.
Located one mile north of Eldorado Peak, Dorado Needle stands proudly at the western high point of the McAllister and Inspiration glacier systems. With several classic moderate alpine rock climbs of various lengths available, Dorado Needle is an excellent objective for those looking to challenge themselves in bigger alpine terrain.
Eldorado’s East Ridge is one of the Northwest’s most classic climbs with moderate glacier travel ending in an airy knife-edge summit ridge. Located in the heart of the North Cascades, the views are hard to beat and is a great introduction to glacier mountaineering and climbing moderately steep snow for those bold enough to tackle the steep approach trail.
Comprised of the Eldorado, Inspiration, McAllister, Klawatti, and North Klawatti glaciers, the Eldorado Icecap is a tremendous volume of ice. The Ice Cap Slam gets you up close and personal with this adventurous and starkly beautiful environment as you live, sleep, and climb for 5 days traversing the entirety of the icecap summiting all of its major peaks along the way. The Ice Cap Slam is a must for anyone wanting to experience some of the best views the Cascades has to offer!
